Free June Birchbox (Part 2)

After using a code to buy June’s birthday Birchbox, I received this bonus box for free. I was a tiny bit disappointed to receive the previous March “Mindfulness” edition rather than a completely new free box – But I was happy that I hadn’t received this particular box before, and I really like the overall design and theme.

  1. Rituals Zensational Foaming Shower Gel

I’m not overly excited by shower gels usually, but I must say that I really love the smell of this particular one (rice milk and cherry blossom) – I may even be tempted to switch to this from my usual coconut gel! This 50ml bottle is also the perfect size to take away on holiday or pack in an overnight bag for a quick trip away. I don’t usually opt for Rituals products, but I can’t wait to try this out.

2. GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment

This handy little product can be used as a a full face mask or as a targeted spot treatment – and as someone with horrific skin on an almost-daily basis, this could very well become a life-saver for me. I’ll be taking this with me to Spain because I’m hoping to wear a lot less makeup than usual – think almost bare-faced… eek – so I want to clear my skin properly rather than just cover up blemishes as and when they appear. Hopefully this clearing treatment will be able to help me achieve that clear skin I’m hoping for.

3. Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray

Amika is a brand I haven’t actually heard of before, but this nifty spray could become my new favourite hair product if it does what it says on the label. Supposedly, this spray will add texture, lift and heat protection when sprayed on wet hair; but will also provide a slight hold when sprayed on dry hair, so it can be used for re-styling as well. I think these qualities will make this yet another perfect product to carry on holiday, as I’ll take any heat protection and lift I can get – especially when the humidity ruins my curls!36585493_2054353507929398_5257660940970622976_n

4. Blaq Mask

I think Birchbox must have read my mind, because this is the second skin-clearing product in this box. I’ve always wanted to try the Blaq masks but I’ve never actually bought one. This charcoal mask aims to draw out toxins and impurities, which is music to my ears because I’m always struggling with my skin. As this is a 15ml sample, I’ll probably use it as part of my pre-holiday pampering routine to get my skin flight-ready.

5. Benefit Badgal Bang Mascara

Benefit mascaras always seem to be well out of my price range, so I always tend to skip past them whenever I need to replace my old drug-store mascara. However, this sample size version is a great way to test whether this product is worth the money, and helps me to decide whether I’d buy it again at full price. Even though the packaging claims to create “full-blast” volume for 36 hours, I’m not entirely sure if it is waterproof or not, so I won’t be using this for a while as I don’t want mascara tears running down my face every time I get splashed in the swimming pool! However, after Summer, this will be the first mascara I turn to.

What do you think of Birchbox at the moment? Is it still worth subscribing to?
