We’re sprinting rapidly towards the end of 2017 – and as usual I’m sitting here listing all the very real similarities between myself and Bridget Jones. And whilst I have been munching on the chocolates meant for Christmas Day, I have realised that this will be my last blog post before the main event; so I hope you all have wonderful Christmases filled with fabulous presents, buckets of hilarity, minimal family arguments and plenty of day-drinking!
In keeping with the festive theme, I thought I’d post a quick unboxing review of the December BirchBox. This is the best box I have received from this subscription service so far, so it has definitely convinced me to keep my subscription going into the new year.
So what did I receive?
- LOC Lipstick in shade “Confident”
This vibrant lipstick is from LOC – BirchBox‘s in-house makeup range. I must admit, I don’t own even a single red lipstick simply because I’m too scared to wear this kind of colour! However, I decided to have a bit of a practice with this LOC red and I found it to be very wearable! Being as pale as I am, I often steer well clear from bright colours like this – but found that it suited even my ghostly skin tone. It’s a perfect Christmas shade – so I may even wear it out the house during the festive period…
2. Balanceme Wonder Eye Cream
I love eye creams! My aforementioned super pale skin is a haven for dark circles and eye suitcases – so I need all the help I can get to reduce them and soothe the skin around my eyes. Balanceme eye cream is 99% natural – and that is only a bonus for me. I’m starting to become really conscious of the number of chemicals and different substances I’m applying to my skin everyday. In fact, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to minimise the amount of unnatural products I’m buying and consuming – so swapping out my unnatural eye creams for this Balanceme natural version will definitely be a step forward for my skin!
3. Kebelo Clarifying Shampoo
Okay, so even though I know this shampoo will definitely be used up, it isn’t really my favourite thing to receive in a subscription box. I much prefer receiving exciting new beauty and skincare items from brands I haven’t tried yet. However, I’ll still be using this shampoo with the hope that it will help to tame my unruly hair and provide a gorgeous, long-lasting scent. I hope I can give it a good review when it is all used up!
4. Baija Body Scrub
Caramelised honey body scrub… It even sounds luxurious. I haven’t tested it yet, but I can’t wait to use this as part of my post-Christmas pamper routine!
5. Spectrum Eyeshadow Brush
This may have been the main reason I bought this month’s box… I really do love Spectrum brushes! I’ve just started using my “Mean Girls” brush set, but I couldn’t pass up the chance to receive a beauty box with a brush from the Black Marbleous collection. What can I say? It’s just a beautiful eyeshadow brush – and I can’t wait to use it with my new Juvia’s Place and Urban Decay palettes.
I also received a duo of LOC eyeshadow sticks as I used the code “LOOK” with my purchase. The two shades I received are right up my alley, so of course these will helping me to create some gorgeous eye makeup looks over the Christmas period.
All in all, this is a wonderful box for me. BirchBox have nailed the theme and the Matthew Williamson box design is completely beautiful. I just know that the box itself will definitely be staying on my dressing table for a long time to come!
Have you ordered any subscription boxes this month?
