Halloween has already been and gone, which means we are now officially in November. I know I probably say this at the beginning of every month, but I really can’t believe how quickly this year seems to be flying by!
My first November post of the year will be dedicated to the absolutely jam-packed weekend I have only just recovered from… I missed a whole day of University on Friday (Eek!) because the “Dr Hook” concert I attended on Thursday night was far too important to miss, and I also had to prepare for a weekend away in London… and get my hands on the Mac Snowball Collection… We caught the train to King’s Cross station in the morning and readied ourselves for a few days filled with family, shopping and afternoon tea. The real reason for our trip was to see my cousin on the day before his 18th birthday and celebrate with afternoon tea at The Langham Hotel – But we also seized the opportunity to stay in London for an extra day and spend as much time as possible in Selfridges and walking down Carnaby Street…
Because London is my absolute favourite City, I tried to take as photos as I could across the weekend – so I thought I’d post a few of them here:
Day 1 –>
Lunch at “The Running Horse” pub, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Dinner at “Zizzi’s”
Carnaby Street didn’t fail to impress with the Halloween decorations… The body-painted actors in Mac‘s window display were a definite spooky hit with the crowd that had gathered outside to watch – and the Muppets X Irregular Choice collaboration was also very much appreciated by me!
Day 2 –>
Afternoon Tea at The Langham Hotel, Oxford Street shopping, Travelling home
Can we just take a second to appreciate this Gucci handbag? Many a minute was spent drooling over this in Selfridges…
Most of the day was spent in The Langham Hotel enjoying an afternoon tea consisting of various sandwiches, scones with cream and strawberry jam and (of course) lots of miniature desserts. It’s safe to say that we were all carrying some fairly hefty food babies by the time we left! I’m not a tea-drinker at all so I was greatly missing my Diet Coke fix, but I did try the Iced Teas and Strawberry and Kiwi Infusions – and they weren’t all that bad.
After our afternoon tea, we ended up walking along to the Oxford Street Topshop where I managed to pick up some gorgeous Zoology-themed trinkets in the sale – perfect for a Zoology student! With my student discount and the 3 for 2 sale promotion, I managed to pick up all 3 pieces for £9 – A lot better than the original £33 they would have cost me!
Overall, we all had a fabulous weekend. It was nice to get together with family and enjoy something together that we wouldn’t normally experience. I also loved window shopping, falling in love with items way out of my price range (!), and the novelty of staying in the Sherlock Holmes Hotel surrounded by all things detective-themed. So even though my feet are suffering greatly from being stuffed into heels for a day, the weekend was definitely worth the blisters.
What did you guys get up to this weekend?
