Urban Decay NYC Palette

Happy Friday everyone! Just a short post for today…

This NYC palette is the first Urban Decay product I’ve ever owned – and just like everyone else, I’ve fallen in love with their colourful makeup and palette designs! But before I begin talking about the eyeshadows inside, let’s just take a second to appreciate the packaging of this amazing palette…

When you open the magnetic lid of the top compartment, you uncover a seriously cute pop-up street collage with tiny LED lights and a small mirror. The design inside is completely beautiful – and it’s a real show stopper on my dressing table!

Most of my eyeshadow collection is based around a neutral colour scheme, but during a typical late night eBay bidding spree I decided to buy this palette to inject a pop of colour into my look…

The shadows themselves were slightly more crumbly and powdery than I thought they would be… However, I’ve started using a dampened Niko Pro ova eyeshadow brush to apply the colour – and this makes it a lot easier to blend while reducing the fall out of powder.

When I first tried the palette, I was slightly disappointed in the strength of the “Uzi”, “Snatch” and “Maui Wowie” colours – but after experimenting a bit, I’ve found that they actually provide a gorgeous shimmer effect when they are layered over the darker tones of other colours!

Top-Bottom: Perversion, Uzi, Loaded, Kush, Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, Last Call, Rockstar, Money, Haight, Maui Wowie, Smog, Bordello, Radium, Snatch, Suspect, Psychedelic Sister

What palettes are you using at the moment?
