Birch Box – August

After cancelling the My Little Box subscription I’ve had for the last few months, I decided to trial both BirchBox and GlossyBox at the same time. I knew I still wanted to receive a monthly box, but I wanted to try a few of them out before subscribing properly – just to see what kinds of products and themes would appeal to me the most. I wasn’t sure which one I’d end up reviewing in my post today because both boxes were dispatched on the same day – but BirchBox arrived first so here is my review of the gorgeous Mermaid-Themed August box!

I can’t fault BirchBox on the speed of it’s delivery or the way the box was packaged. When I received the parcel I was slightly worried because the outer box was really badly damaged – so I didn’t know how the contents would look or if anything would be broken. However, when I opened the tatty brown packaging, the BirchBox itself was contained in a smaller pink cardboard cover. Not only were there two layers of protection around the main box, but there was a layer of foam inside it to ensure that the contents were protected!

(When I ordered my BirchBox, I entered a code that gave me a purple striped makeup bag and a Nails Inc. nail polish in shade “Queen Street” for free… Bargain!)

The first product I found in my box was this Living Sea Therapy Sea Salt Scrub. The RRP is £26 for a full sized jar, and hopefully the price and the 5 star reviews reflect the standard of the product – so I’m looking forward to trying this out, especially if it is as good as it looks/smells!

Apparently this Number 4 “Sugar Texturising Spray” is exclusive to BirchBox. Supposedly it’s a sugar cane-based spray that creates waves in hair without the classic “crunch” caused by salt sprays and similar products. Hopefully it’ll be perfect for use in the hot and humid conditions that hair will be experiencing during these Summer months!

I was so pleased this LOC “One and Done Shadow Stick” wasn’t broken on its way to being delivered to me! It’s in the shade “Rock Steady” which is the most gorgeous shiny brown colour. It’s perfect for my pale skin tone and I love the packaging as well – this is definitely going straight into my everyday makeup bag!

I may have to do a separate review post on this product because I have never used anything like this before! It is a full sized Yes To “2-Step Coconut Lip Kit” which is meant to leave your lips plump and soft. It contains coconut and sugar so I already know I’ll love the scent – I can’t wait to try this out!

Of course this is my favourite product in the box… I chose the pale pink “Bomb Shell” brush instead of the turquoise “Glam Clam” alternative – just so it would match the other rose gold and white brushes I own. All Spectrum brushes are beautiful, and obviously this brush is no different! It’s looks amazing, it’s cruelty free, it’s vegan and the bristles are super soft –  what more could I ask for? I can’t wait to add it to my collection!

Have any of you received a BirchBox this month? What did you think of the products included?
