Holiday Heroes: Makeup

Another beauty post…

My holiday is only a few days away now, so of course I’m very busy choosing and organising the clothes, accessories and makeup I’ll be needing while I’m away.

The weather in Spain is obviously much warmer than the weather here in England, so lighter makeup is definitely required as I don’t want it to be slipping down my face or clogging up my pores and causing breakouts. So here is a post with my essential holiday makeup items…

O.P.I nail polish is always brought on holiday with me because I love the bright colours, and they always seem to be most chip-resistant out of all the brands I’ve tried. Blues and Reds are my favourite nail colours for this season because they stand out against pale skin and look good with most of the outfits I’ve planned.

Moisturiser: This isn’t very glamorous, but I’ve been using this Clean and Clear moisturiser because it’s the best I’ve tried in a long time. I put it on before I apply my makeup and before I go to bed to help keep my skin clear and refreshed, which is useful in England, let alone in hot countries!

Rimmel Insta Matte powder is translucent and sets makeup, preventing a greasy look. I bought it from Superdrug today for £4.99 and I’m looking forward to trying it out and seeing if it keeps my makeup in place on holiday.

Polar IcyMagic roll on eye cream is fabulous for combatting under eye bags and giving a more youthful look to your face – particularly if you have had a late night… It is cold, soothing and feels really good against tired skin. I received this in My Little Box monthly lifestyle and beauty box and I love it!

The pale pink and rose gold blush brush is also from My Little Box and it is the softest brush I have. It’s great for providing an even coverage of any powder or blush product and I really like the way it looks as well – especially because it matches the packaging of the blush I have…

Blusher: The Blushing Hearts triple baked blusher from I Heart Makeup is amazing because it has three stripes of different shades of pink and provides a light shimmer that looks really good across the cheek bones when the light hits it. It is also not as powdery as other blushes I have used in the past which is a bonus because I prefer the texture of baked blushers.

Face: Rimmel BB Cream, Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid and Maybelline Master Strobing Liquid are the products I use the most – the BB Cream is SPF 20 and acts as a light base for the foundation whilst smoothing out my skin and providing an even skin tone which is great. The strobing liquid gives a dewy glow without looking greasy, and the silvery colour is very flattering.

Again from Maybelline, today I bought matte waterproof Master Ink liquid eyeliner for £5.99 so I will be able to wear it on the beach and around the pool without worrying about it running down my face if I get it wet. I usually wear Kohl eyeliners, but I want to experiment with bolder eye makeup and winged eyeliner looks so this will be perfect.

Lime Crime is my go-to brand for lipstick. The shade I’m bringing with me is called “Gemma” and is a metallic brown-purple shade. I always use variants of this colour from other brands as well because I find this suits my skin tone the best.

I saw a few Primark brush sets in a copy of Vogue last night, so today I popped into town and had a look for myself. I bought a marble-effect 5 brush set with travel pouch for £7 which was a bargain and will be perfect for slipping in my hand luggage to take on holiday.

I received the Garnier moisture bomb spray at the Glamour Beauty Festival earlier this year and I love it because you can use this over the top of makeup or on a bare face to provide instant cooling to your skin – a perfect product for use in a hot country!

Moschino “Hippy Fizz” perfume is something I thought I’d try because I’m currently using Moschino “Toy”, and I also bought Moschino “Clouds” last year for holiday which I loved. Therefore I decided to buy the the scent I hadn’t owned before. It has a really light citrus smell which I like and it isn’t sticky when it lands on the skin. It was on offer for £18 which was a bonus, and it came with a free tote bag as well!

And of course I will also be taking my fabulous new Obsession Makeup palette from Boots. I’ve explained my reasons for loving this palette in a previous post, and as I said before, this is the first thing that’ll be put in my makeup bag!
